Acquisition for the ENO Costume Department
Heather Smith advised the English National Opera on the relocation of their costume department. The space they occupied in Southwark was too big, didn’t have sufficient means of ventilation and the lease was coming to an end.
A search was therefore carried out for space which would enable daily deliveries, would be well located to the London Coliseum, had openable windows for ventilation, ground floor access and was about half the size at 3,500-4,500 sq ft.
Two new leases were acquired at Union Court, Clapham of 4,030 sq ft which created separation of the Millinery and Costume departments. We negotiated breaks in the lease to fit with the strategic plans of the wider ENO property portfolio.
The ENO costume and millinery departments have settled in well and are currently busy fitting, stitching and producing everything you will see on stage during the new ENO season opening in September.
